7th Annual Jan Freeman Basketball Tournament Dec. 3-6 at OLCS
Our Lady's Christian School will host the Seventh Annual Jan Freeman Invitational Basketball Tournament Dec. 3-6, 2009.
The tournament will match boys’ varsity and junior varsity teams from throughout the Erie area. Schools participating in the tournament include:
- Blessed Sacrament
- Fairview Middle School
- Mount Carmel
- Our Lady of Peace
- Our Lady's Christian
- Saint George
- Saint John/Holy Rosary
- Saint Peter Cathedral
- Walnut Creek Middle School
More than 100 athletes and over 1,000 fans are expected at the four-day tournament. Tickets are $1 for students, $2 for adults, or $5 for a family. The OLC Athletic Board will offer food and drink concessions, door prizes and a Chinese auction. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Athletic Program at Our Lady's Christian School and The American Cancer Society.
The tournament is an annual event honoring Jan Freeman, who died in 2003. Mrs. Freeman’s three children attended OLC, and she was always in the stands cheering on our school teams. She worked in the school office, cafeteria and library and was well-known and appreciated for her dedication to students and faculty. The Freeman family continues her dedication to the OLC community and Saint Jude Parish.
