We offer a variety of class schedules to fit the needs of busy families:

Curriculum

Preschoolers at OLC develop a love for learning in a structured-but-fun setting where they learn through age-appropriate, hands-on activities. The curriculum fosters preschoolers’ academic, social, spiritual and emotional growth, preparing them for success in kindergarten and beyond. All classes are taught by certified, veteran teachers with assistance from experienced aides, with a teacher to student ratio of one to nine or fewer.

Our preschool teachers communicate frequently with parents and include parents in activities such as class parties, guest readers, field trip chaperones, and “Community Helpers” visits.

Half-Day Preschool

Half-day classes for 3-year-olds, 4-year-olds and Pre-K are held in a spacious, bright, cheery classroom located in the lower level of Saint Jude Church. Surrounded by colorful murals, the room has plenty of space to move about and features distinct areas for different kinds of learning:

Science Center

* Separate centers for math, science, reading, building, and computer

* Instructional space

* Work and play tables

* Discovery Table (filled with sand, water, beans, or other curriculum-related items)

* Play areas with hundreds of toys, puzzles and games

Half-day classes typically offer smaller class size and a choice of morning or afternoon sessions for 4- and 5-year-olds.

Before-school care is available in the morning (beginning at 6:30 a.m.), and after-school care is available from 3 to 5:30 p.m.

Full-day Preschool

The full-day Pre-K is located in the main school building, in a spacious classroom custom-built for preschoolers. While children spend most of the day working and playing (and resting) in the classroom, they also visit other parts of the school for music, art, computer, library and gym classes, and for lunch in the cafeteria. “Classroom helpers” from older grades buddy-up with preschoolers at lunch and for special activities.

The Pre-K class uses the award-winning Handwriting Without Tears curriculum that focuses on correct grasp, letter formation, mechanics, upper and lower case letters, numbers to ten, and short sentence writing.

Admission Requirements

Three-year-olds must be 3, and 4-year-olds must be 4 by September 1st. Children must be able to use the restroom independently. For information about how spaces are allocated, click here.
