What exactly is SCRIP?
SCRIP is a fundraising program that allows you to purchase gift certificates, also called SCRIP, at a discount and sell them for full face value, creating a rebate on the difference. You WILL NOT be spending more than what the certificate is worth (i.e. you write a check for $100 in grocery certificates, you receive $100 worth of certificates, yet you have just earned a rebate for yourself and OLC. How much will it cost me to participate in this program?
Nothing! You don’t have to buy anything extra, you don’t pay a penny more, and you can make your purchases whenever YOU choose. The reason for its effectiveness is simple: families receive the rebate by making purchases that they would make anyway, for groceries, clothing, etc.
Why do you refer to this as SCRIP?
Scrip is a term that means "substitute money". When we purchase scrip, we are purchasing negotiable gift certificates that are used just like cash.
What merchants participate in this program?
A list of merchants both locally owned and national companies are available for you on www.shopwithscrip.com . You will see the company name, the certificate amount and the percentage that will be the "rebate" that you will share with OLC.
How do I buy the SCRIP certificates?
Click here and register using the enrollment code 4472EB123816. Pick out what items you want follow the directions on the web site. When completed with your order print out your receipt and send it to the school office by 9 a.m. Tuesday with your payment. Under normal circumstances you will have you’re item by that Friday, and at the latest the following Monday.
Can you earn rebates even if you don't have a child at OLC?
Yes, follow directions above; this is a great opportunity for grandparents and other family members to help you and your child’s school.
How can I get my SCRIP order the day I send my receipt in?
Because the company we order SCRIP from is in Chicago, we are at the mercy of the shipping company.
How do you send the order home?
At the beginning of the school year, you will receive an envelope with your name and your child’s name on it. Use that envelope to send your orders in to the school in and we will return it to you with your certificates on Friday or Monday. Reuse that envelope to send your next receipt in. When we notice your envelope becoming worn, we will make you a new one.
How long are my SCRIP’s good for?
They are just like a regular gift card you would go to the retailer and purchase yourself. Most are redeemable at full cost for one year. After that time, some start reducing by a small amount each month.
Are SCRIP certificates only good in the Erie area?
No, the certificates are redeemable wherever that retailer is located unless noted on the SCRIP order form.
