Our Lady's Christian School

Technology

All students, K-8, attend class in the computer lab weekly. The technology curriculum is integrated into the various subject areas and is team-taught with the homeroom teachers. Computer classes focus on using software as a tool for learning, expressing ideas, and accomplishing a specific result.

Kindergarten through Third Grade

Students use the computer to reinforce concepts learned in the classroom and to learn technology skills.

Intermediate and Middle School

Students complete projects and assignments designed to reinforce higher level thinking skills and to learn software and technology skills that will be useful as they grow older.

Equipment

Our computer system features a new (2009) terminal server that enables students to access files from their home computer. Students can begin a project at school, then open their files from home and save their work in a file for the teacher. No jump drives or software compatibility issues to deal with!

The computer lab features 28 computers updated in 2009, printers and scanners. Each lab computer features an intel Pentinum processor, 80 GB hard drive, CD/DVD drive, 17” LCD wide screen monitor, optical mouse and built-in speakers and headphones.

In 2009 OLC was one of the first area schools to install a fiber optic broadband access line. This upgrade allows for broader, faster internet use and video streaming (students can participate in interactive online webinars and special learning opportunities).

Each classroom has updated computers for small group and individual use.

The library is equipped with computers for research and to find books in the card catalogue.

The middle school science lab is equipped with probes and software that encourage learning through the collection of “real time” data.
