School Advisory Committee

The purpose of the Our Lady’s Christian School Advisory Committee (SAC) is to offer input and advise to the principal and governing Pastors of Our Lady’s Christian School at St. Jude Parish, St. Julia Parish, and St. Andrew Parish.

The SAC recommends, but does not promulgate school policy or policy changes in dealing with the School, as only the pastors and diocesan bishop have the ability to promulgate policies. All policies must bear in mind the mission of Catholic education and the magisterial teachings of the Catholic Church. (See Code of Canon Law, The Catechism of the Catholic Church; as well as particular and universal law on Catholic education.)

The voice of the SAC is valuable tool for the school’s administration, as it presents an opportunity for the pastors, principal, and committee members to dialogue about important issues which offer vision to the school, as well as carefully guard the mission of OLCS as a Catholic school.

All appointed Committee Members serve for two-year terms. No appointed member may serve more than two consecutive two-year terms. The Pastors, Principal, Director of Advancement, representatives of the Parent/Teacher Organization and Athletic Board serve as ex officio members of the SAC. The pastor of Saint Jude Parish is the lead pastor and may speak on behalf of the other pastors.

OLCS School Advisory meetings are held monthly.
